Plan first

Choose a size that fits your room and your panel budget. A classic dining table is 1800 × 900 mm.

Cut list

  • Top: 1 × 1800 × 900 mm
  • Aprons: 2 × 1600 × 90 mm and 2 × 700 × 90 mm
  • Legs: 4 × 720 × 80 × 80 mm

Assembly

  1. Build the leg frames with mortise and tenon or pocket screws.
  2. Attach aprons to the legs.
  3. Fasten the top with figure-8 or Z-clips so it can move.

Finishing

Sand to 180 then 220 grit, apply a wood conditioner, then 2–3 coats of varnish or oil, sanding lightly between coats.

Common mistakes

  • Attaching the top rigidly — it will crack as the wood moves.
  • Not checking the floor is level before assembly.

Generate your cut list with the furniture plan generator, then see the dining table project.
